Project Spotlight – Leitrim Village Footbridge

In 2007 NWTH undertook one of its largest projects to date. The project involved spanning the Shannon-Erne Waterway with a single span 25 metre lattice footbridge. The bridge was fabricated in our workshop and then taken in one piece to the site with the help of a Garda escort in the very early hours of a July morning.

Using a 300 tonne crane, the main body of the bridge was fitted in one day. Provision was also made to bring the new water scheme across the bridge and within a week, the residents and tourists had a safer route when walking between Vera's and The Leitrim Inn. Visible from both river and road, the bridge has become a landmark in the beautiful village of Leitrim.
